New feature: Custom domains for Sandboxes

New feature: Custom domains for Sandboxes

We're happy to announce that Buddy's long awaited Sandboxes has just entered the final stretch before the release! The feature is now heavily tested for stability, security, and performance. To sweeten up the waiting period, we've released a nifty option that lets you add a human touch to the soulless lingo of automatically generated URLs: custom domains.

Success
If you're interested in giving the Sandboxes a try before the release, you can still sign up for beta and send your feedback and suggestions!
Hint
Sandboxes are dynamically generated environments allowing you to preview your websites without staging infrastructure.

Configuration

The option is available at the bottom of the Workspace Settings tab:

At the screen above you can see that one domain was added and that it is used in the gh-repository project.

Tip
If you cannot find the workspace settings tab, please contact your workspace administrator.

To add a domain, you first need to add two entries to your DNS record so that we know that the domain is yours and the traffic is properly forwarded to our servers:

Once you do that, you'll need to define which sandboxes should be staged on the custom domain. You can do that in the Project Options:

And that's it – now you have a nice looking URL that you can proudly share with your clients 😎
