Two-factor authentication (2FA)

In response to popular demand from the raising number of Enterprise clients we are introducing two-factor authentication. You may already know this method from popular services like GitHub or Gmail – now you can use it to secure your workspaces on Buddy.

Enabling 2FA

To use 2FA, you'll need a mobile device with an active number, or a 2FA app installed. The option is activated in your Profile Settings:

There are two ways to set up 2FA:

Set up using SMS

Select your country code and enter the number to which Buddy will send the authentication code. Enter the code to finish activation.

Set up using an app

This way involves using an application to scan a barcode and produce a six-digit activation code. You can use any 2FA app, for example Google Authenticator.

In both cases, you will receive recovery codes in case you lose access to your mobile. You can regenerate them at any time in /my-id.

Forcing 2FA for all workspace users

You can improve the security of your workspace by forcing 2FA during the log in:

  1. Go to your workspace's DashboardPreferences.
  2. Check Only users with 2FA can log in.
You need to be an admin to enable this option.
